Manchester United supporters are feeling perplexed over eye-catching omissions after Erik ten Hag confirmed his starting XI for the pre-season fixture against Melbourne Victory this afternoon.
Starting the summer in style against Liverpool on Tuesday, United opted for experience to start with and later turned to youth and fringe players. Jadon Sancho, Fred, Anthony Martial and Facundo Pellistri scored during a pulsating 4-0 victory at the Rajamangala Stadium.
United promptly moved on from Bangkok and touched down in Australia for the next leg of their tour. Victory are first up before further games against Premier League sides Aston Villa and Crystal Palace.

Having missed the Liverpool match due to an injury precaution, Harry Maguire - who has been retained as captain by Ten Hag for the coming season - makes his first summer appearance and will be partnered in defence by Victor Lindelof with Raphael Varane omitted. Diogo Dalot and Luke Shaw are the two full-backs.
Elsewhere, there are starts for Tom Heaton and Anthony Elanga as Ten Hag makes three changes to his starting XI with options to call upon the bench. With so many games to come in a short time-frame, there will be opportunities for players on stand-by including new signing Tyrell Malacia.
First-choice goalkeeper David de Gea and Marcus Rashford are the other two players to be withdrawn.
