Manchester United fans predict Jesse Lingard’s next club after Zlatan Ibrahimovic post

Fans of Manchester United and other clubs have been forecasting which team Jesse Lingard may depart to after his contract expires at Old Trafford this summer, following a recent Instagram post with former Red Devils teammate Zlatan Ibrahimovic.

The 29-year-old is surely a dead cert to leave the club after failing to force a move away in January. He has had limited game time at United over the past two seasons, having started just one Premier League game all season.

Lingard has managed to bag two goals and an assist in the 19 matches he’s featured in but his time at the club is likely to come to an end with no contract renewal yet agreed. West Ham and Newcastle continue to be linked with the England international.

Lingard’s latest Instagram post has prompted United fans to predict that a move to San Siro may be the one that materialises. He was pictured with Ibrahimovic, who has scored eight times for Stefano Pioli’s men this season, in Milan.

Supporters of United and other clubs on Instagram and Twitter were tongue-in-cheek in their responses to the post, while others expressed that this meeting was an indication of a summer move to the Italian capital...

Ansudb: I’m guessing that’s where he is moving. Zlatan must be showing him around.

Nathankme: New club AC Milan.

Temitayo_13_: Jesse to Milan here we go.

Konstantinos: Lingard to Milan?

Brian14707: Is JL14 gonna sign for AC MILAN?

@ogbonnacc24: He’s going to Milan.

@Eadeslfc: Lingard is doing a really really bad job at hiding his move to AC Milan it’s kinda obvious it’s done.

@TheRealGregB868: Lingard to AC Milan incoming.

Italy has been a country that has seen several former United players revitalise their careers after experiencing limited game time at Old Trafford. Chris Smalling and Henrikh Mkhitaryan secured moves to Roma, now managed by former Red Devils boss Jose Mourinho, and both are now first-team regulars.

Fellow England international Fikayo Tomori permanently switched to AC Milan from Chelsea last year after a successful loan spell. These examples could tempt Lingard to make a move abroad if an offer comes in.
