Manchester United fans name line-up they want to see vs Aston Villa as Christian Eriksen starts

Manchester United will be looking to get back to winning ways when they welcome Aston Villa to Old Trafford this afternoon.

United, who were beaten 3-1 by Villa in the reverse fixture at Villa Park back in November, squandered the opportunity to register a fourth successive Premier League win against Tottenham Hotspur on Thursday evening, blowing a two-goal lead to draw 2-2 in north London. Pedro Porro and Son Heung-min netted in the second half for the home side to cancel out Jadon Sancho's and Marcus Rashford's goals prior to the break.

It means United head into this afternoon's contest against Villa fourth in the table, six points ahead of both Unai Emery's side and Spurs, highlighting the significance of what a victory would do in their hopes of securing a top-four berth. Spurs face Liverpool later today at Anfield, kicking off at 4:30pm.

United, who are unbeaten at home in the Premier League since the opening day of the season, are understood not to have picked up any fresh injuries since the draw at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium less than 72 hours ago, meaning boss Erik ten Hag should be able to pick his starting line-up from the same crop of players that were available in the capital.

With that said, how do United's supporters want the Reds to line-up against in-form Villa this afternoon? Below, MEN Sport has taken a close look at what they have voted for using our interactive widget.

Unsurprisingly, the supporters have voted for David de Gea to continue in goal. The Spaniard has kept a clean sheet in each of United's last four Premier League home games and will be desperate to add another shutout to his ever-growing collection.

In defence, the supporters want to see Ten Hag stick with the same back-four for the third game in succession, with Luke Shaw continuing as a centre-back alongside Victor Lindelof. Shaw has been excellent since returning from injury and has not looked out of place in the heart of the defence.

That means the supporters hope Aaron Wan-Bissaka and Diogo Dalot continue in the two full-back positions. Left-back Tyrell Malacia is unlikely to force his way into the team after struggling off the bench on Thursday night.

In midfield, United's supporters also hope that Ten Hag refuses to tinker, voting for him to stick with Bruno Fernandes, Christian Eriksen and Casemiro in the engine room. It is, after all, the Reds' best midfield trio.

Finally, in attack, United's supporters also hope that Ten Hag sticks with the same front-three that started against Spurs, meaning they want to see Rashford operate through the middle once again, supported by Sancho and Antony either side of him. However, Wout Weghorst and Anthony Martial will both be hoping to force their way into the starting line-up.

In conclusion, it means that United's supporters are hoping that Ten Hag sticks with the same XI that drew with Spurs, despite squandering a two-goal lead.
