Manchester United fans mercilessly troll Leeds after Marcelo Bielsa sacking

Manchester United fans couldn’t help but poke fun at Leeds after Marcelo Bielsa’s departure was confirmed.

News of the Argentine’s departure began to emerge on Saturday night following Leeds’ 4-0 defeat at the hands of Tottenham, with the club confirming the decision to part ways on Sunday.

Bielsa leaves Elland Road two points above the relegation zone, having endured a wretched run of results in recent weeks, with his side conceding 17 goals in their past four games.

"This has been the toughest decision I have had to make during my tenure at Leeds United, taking into account all the success Marcelo has had at the club," Leeds chairman Andrea Radrizzani said in a statement.

"With Marcelo as our head coach, we had three incredible campaigns and the good times returned to Elland Road. He changed the culture of the club and brought a winning mentality to us all.

"However, I have to act in the best interest of the club and I believe a change is required now in order to secure our Premier League status. Recent results and performances have not met our expectations.

"We find ourselves in a precarious league position and I feel now is the right time to bring in a new head coach, in order to have an impact in the decisive stage of the season."

One of Bielsa’a final games in charge of Leeds saw his side fall to a 4-2 defeat to United at Elland Road, with Ralf Rangnick’s side clinching victory despite their opponents fighting back from 2-0 down to level shortly after the break.

United have enjoyed their meetings with Bielsa's Leeds since they returned to the Premier League, with their three wins and a draw, producing 15 goals for the Reds.

And United fans couldn’t resist bringing up those big wins upon hearing the news of Bielsa’s departure.

Former RB Leipzig coach Jesse Marsch now looks to be the favourite to take over at Elland Road.

Leeds said they were looking to make an announcement on Bielsa’s replacement on Monday, with Marsch available after leaving Leipzig in November.
