It's understandable why Luke Shaw was looking to run down the clock in the dying moments of Manchester United's draw against Chelsea on Saturday night. United thought they had lost the match late on when Jorginho converted a penalty three minutes from time, but seven minutes later there was bedlam thanks to Casemiro's heroic header.
In a short space of time, the match had come to life, and from feeling like three points had dropped, it suddenly felt like a point had been salvaged as United rallied late on to draw the score level.
In the final minute of six added-on, Shaw slowly walked over to collect the ball for a United free-kick, electing to waste as much time as possible with a string of keepy-ups rather than rushing to get the ball back into play.

It was trademark time-wasting designed to get United over the line without more late drama. It said so much that Erik ten Hag was furious to see it, such was his desire to get down the other end and try to win the match.
In the final moments of the match, Ten Hag was seen berating his left-back and asking him to play with more urgency as Shaw took his time retrieving the ball.
The United manager knew Chelsea were vulnerable and, rather than see his side settle for a point, he was eager to see them attack again, such was his belief that his team could complete the most unlikely of comebacks.
Under previous managers, a draw would have been good enough, but not for Ten Hag.
