Manchester United fans identify which players must ‘step up’ amid Marcus Rashford injury

Manchester United fans have called for Marcus Rashford’s teammates to “step up” and find the net after the striker was ruled out of action for the next few games with a muscle injury.

The attacker limped off holding his groin against Everton on Saturday when attempting to latch onto a through ball. United have been heavily reliant on Rashford for goals this season.

The England star has netted 28 for United this term - his most prolific campaign ever - in addition to the three he scored at the World Cup. However, the 25-year-old will miss Thursday’s Europa League clash with Sevilla and more games beyond that.

Bruno Fernandes is the next best scorer with 10 to his name while Anthony Martial, Antony, Jadon Sancho and Wout Weghorst have scored 21 between them, seven fewer than Rashford’s sole tally.

Speaking in Wednesday’s press conference, Erik ten Hag said of Rashford’s length of time on the sidelines: "[He will miss] a few games, so that's the statement. I can't give more details on it because we don't know. We'll have to see how it develops."

Luke Shaw and Alejandro Garnacho have both been ruled out of the contest too. Reacting to Rashford’s absence, United fans took to Twitter to call on other members of the squad to shoulder the goal burden themselves.
