A number of Manchester United supporters believe that West Ham United star Declan Rice has issued a come-and-get-me plea following his honesty about his love for playing at Old Trafford.
Following United's last-gasp 1-0 win over the Hammers on Saturday afternoon, courtesy of Marcus Rashford's dramatic 93rd minute winner, Rice, speaking to the media after the contest, opened up about how much he enjoys playing at Old Trafford, even though the late heroics of his England team-mate will have left a sour taste in his mouth.
As reported by the Manchester Evening News, Rice is a top target for United as they look to strengthen their central-midfield options. They have been long-term admirers of the Hammers star and remain keen to complete a deal for the 23-year-old.
Rice, speaking to Sky Sports, said: "I was loving it. Every time I come to Old Trafford, I've always said it's one of my favourite places to play.
"It's an amazing stadium."
Having waxed lyrical about Old Trafford and how much he loves playing at the famous football cathedral, United's supporters, unsurprisingly, soon reacted to his comments, given the club's strong interest in securing his signature.
And some fans took it as a possible suggestion that he was hinting that he would like to join United, amid the club's desperation to strengthen its holding midfield options.
Below, MEN Sport has taken a close look at what some United supporters have had to say.
As you can see from the messages displayed in the tweets above, United's supporters believe that Rice's admission about his love for playing at Old Trafford may have been a clear hint that he would like to join the club.
The England international, of course, is highly thought of at the London Stadium and the Hammers are believed to value him at around the £100million mark, meaning it will be a stern challenge for United to try and lure him to Old Trafford.
Nevertheless, the midfielder is believed to remain a top target for the Reds as they look to bolster that area of the team.
On Saturday's game itself, Rice felt a draw would have been a fair outcome.
He said: "I think a draw was a fair result. There weren't many clear chances in the game.
"But to be naïve like that and give away a goal in the last 20 seconds is devastating.
"When they were pushing players forward we are such a counter-attacking side we still had the energy to go forward. It was a real kick in the teeth to concede that late."
