Manchester United fans fume at Jurrien Timber's social media message

Manchester United fans have pulled no punches in responding to Jurrien Timber’s latest social media post.

The defender has seemingly backed off from a potential switch to Old Trafford amid fears over losing his place in the Netherlands World Cup squad after Louis van Gaal’s warning. He was one of Erik ten Hag’s primary summer targets.

It instead seems like attention has now turned to Timber's teammate at Ajax, Lisandro Martinez, with United lodging a bid for the Argentinian in the region of £37million. Timber was reportedly being targeted partly for his versatility, also being able to play right-back as well as centre-back.

This would have come in handy with Aaron Wan-Bissaka available for transfer. However, it looks as though Timber has got cold feet after Van Gaal said he may not be on the plane to Qatar if his playing time is restricted at Old Trafford.

United fans let him know their thoughts on the speculation by commenting under his Twitter photo post, which sees him next to his car outside of an Ajax complex with the club badge in shot. He entitled it ‘still here tho’ which prompted a quick reaction from United supporters.

@DrippyUTD1: Lol this guy doesn’t have the mentality of a United player anyway, he doesn’t think he is good enough to start for us, needs to believe in himself a bit more.

@TheFergusonWay: Bro is afraid that he won’t get selected for the WC squad because he’s having doubts that he won’t be able to play ahead of Varane who's played 15-games last season and Maguire, who’s been very underwhelming and been out-of-form since the Euros.

@ACEnterprise_: Tyrell (Malacia) did what you were scared to do.

@obrizy: Coward!

@KizzieDC1: We gave you a chance to link up with your coach and become world class under him, but you choose Van Gaal.

@Li_Dwight: You listened to a man who will be out of a job after the World Cup. It was a move of a lifetime.
