Manchester United fans demand two players after Erik ten Hag and Ajax 'agreement' emerges

A number of Manchester United supporters are urging the club to complete deals to bring Ajax duo Jurrien Timber and Antony to Old Trafford this summer.

The duo, who played key roles in helping Reds manager Erik ten Hag lead Ajax to their latest Eredivisie title during the 2021/22 campaign, are both being heavily linked with moves to M16. As reported by the Manchester Evening News earlier this month, United have prioritised Timber as their top defensive target, while reports connecting them with Antony continue to circulate.

Ten Hag, who will get United's pre-season preparations underway in less than a fortnight's time, is keen to strengthen both his central-defensive and wide options this summer, and Timber and Antony could be ideal additions. The Dutchman is also keen on adding a new central-midfielder to his ranks.

But although speculation linking Timber and Antony with moves to Old Trafford is continuing to mount, it has been reported that Ten Hag has a 'gentleman's agreement' in place with his old club not to raid the squad. The Dutch giants, who continue to produce highly-talented players, have already lost right-back Noussair Mazraoui and midfielder Ryan Gravenberch to Bayern Munich, meaning the departures of Timber and Antony would leave further holes for them to fill this summer.

To United's credit, however, they have not been linked with masses of Ajax players, just Timber and Antony. And reports suggesting that Ten Hag will not be allowed to gut his former squad have attracted a response from the Reds' supporters', who are still determined to see the club land Timber and Antony, despite the 'agreement' that is in place.
