David de Gea and Cristiano Ronaldo are Manchester United's best performers according to the fans but it was bad news for Harry Maguire. United's season has been disappointing for a number of reasons. Early exits in the League Cup and FA Cup saw the Reds' trophy hopes evaporate.
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer was sacked in November with his team looking less than likely to qualify for Europe. Michael Carrick and latterly Ralf Rangnick have presided over a marginal upturn in form but exit in the Champions League to Atletico Madrid has left United trophyless for yet another season.
Their last remaining goal is to qualify for the Champions League however that task looks increasingly more difficult. United sit sixth in the table, four points behind Arsenal who have a game in hand.
