Manchester United fans agree with what Erik ten Hag has done vs Chelsea

Erik ten Hag has named his starting line-up for Manchester United's huge Premier League showdown with Chelsea at Stamford Bridge this teatime, making just one change.

United, who are unbeaten in their last nine league meetings with the Londoners, will be looking to build on Wednesday evening's impressive 2-0 win over Tottenham Hotspur at Old Trafford. Second-half goals from Fred and Bruno Fernandes sealed a fully deserved victory.

It means that Ten Hag will be determined to see his side produce a similar performance this evening, although Chelsea, who are still unbeaten under head coach Graham Potter, promise to offer a stern test. The Dutchman, perhaps surprisingly, has decided to make one alteration to the side that beat Spurs three days ago.

Christian Eriksen has come back into the side, meaning Fred, who was excellent in midweek, has dropped down to the bench. Eriksen missed last Sunday's draw with Newcastle United through illness and started on the bench against Spurs.

Meanwhile, Tyrell Malacia, Scott McTominay and Anthony Elanga have been named among the substitutes. However, Aaron Wan-Bissaka, Harry Maguire, Donny van de Beek and Anthony Martial all remain sidelined through injury. Cristiano Ronaldo, of course, has been banished from the squad.

Having made the decision to make just one alteration to the side that performed so well against Spurs, Ten Hag will be hoping for more of the same. It is the return of Eriksen that has attracted the most attention from United's supporters in the immediate aftermath of the team news being confirmed.

Below, MEN Sport has taken a close look at what some of United's supporters have had to say in response to Ten Hag's decision to recall the Danish international at the expense of Fred.

As you can see from the messages displayed in the tweets above, Ten Hag's decision to recall Eriksen to the starting line-up has been generally well received by the United supporters, though some of them are disappointed to see Fred lose his place. The latter was excellent against Spurs and will feel hard done by.

United starting line-up: De Gea; Dalot, Varane, Martinez, Shaw; Casemiro, Eriksen, Fernandes; Antony, Rashford, Sancho.

Substitutes: Heaton, Lindelof, Malacia, McTominay, Fred, Iqbal, Pellistri, Elanga, Garnacho.

This teatime's contest at Stamford Bridge gets underway at 5:30pm and you can follow all of the action on our live matchday blog, which you can access by clicking here.
