Manchester United FA Youth Cup final details - opponents, venue and date

Manchester United U18s booked their place in their first FA Youth Cup final in over a decade on Wednesday with an emphatic win over Wolves.

A Charlie McNeill brace and a wonder goal from the ever-reliable Alejandro Garnacho - who has just been called up to Argentina's national team alongside Lionel Messi - saw United secure their spot in the final. Old Trafford witnessed the next generation of stars strutting their stuff as they booked their place for a shot at silverware.

On course to the final, they have beaten Scunthorpe, Reading, Everton and Leicester. Travis Binnion's side are within 90, possibly 120, minutes of breaking an 11-year wait for United to have their name etched on the prestigious youth trophy once again, with Paul Pogba, Ravel Morrison and Jesse Lingard part of the last squad to be crowned champions.

When is the FA Youth Cup final?

In what has been a torrid season for United, the U18s have given the club a chance of silverware. They will get their opportunity to lift the Youth Cup before April 30, on a date yet to be confirmed.

Who could they play?

Either Nottingham Forest or Chelsea will be waiting and hoping to deny United's hopes of silverware. But both clubs will have to wait until the end of March to see who will advance to the final.

The Londoners have a rich history in this tournament, winning the competition nine times - just one short of United's current record. Forest booked their semi-final spot against Chelsea with a 3-1 win over Blackburn.

Where will the final be played?

The semi-final draw gave the winners of United's clash home advantage for the final. As a result, the final is set to be played at Old Trafford, as it was in 2011, with the young United squad potentially being cheered on by a big crowd. More than 6,000 turned up to watch their semi-final victory.

Last season saw Villa Park play host to the final as Aston Villa edged out Liverpool.

When the two-legged final took place 11 years ago, 23,000 watched United play Sheffield United at Old Trafford, whilst 29,977 fans attended at Bramall Lane. Manchester United won 6-3 on aggregate.
