Manchester United eye La Liga star with '€60m release clause' and more transfer rumours

Manchester United are reportedly interested in signing Real Sociedad midfielder Martin Zubimendi ahead of the January transfer window.

According to Spanish outlet Mundo Deportivo (via Sport Witness ), Erik ten Hag is a 'big fan' of Zubimendi. United did sign two central midfielders in the summer, with Christian Eriksen and Casemiro arrived to add some much-needed experience to the middle of the park for the Reds.

Yet it is thought that the 23-year-old can be viewed as a long-term option in the following seasons given the pair are both in their thirties. However, Zubimendi is understood to have a contract that contains a €60million (£53m) release cause that is active until its expiry in 2027.

With United not looking to repeat the same type of outlay that they had over the summer and the club prioritising a centre-forward, they may well be priced out of a deal this winter and revisit a move for Zubimendi during the next summer transfer window.

Elsewhere, Italian outlet Calciomercato Web (via HITC ) report that Juventus striker Dusan Vlahovic would be tempted by a move to Old Trafford.

The report states that the 22-year-old is a top target for United, Newcastle and Chelsea, yet Vlahovic would prefer to move to either London or Manchester over the North East. Although the Reds are looking at the possibility of a short-term loan deal to fix their striker crisis, should the Serbian be available to sign this winter, the club would be hard-pushed to say no to any potential deal.

The Serie A striker has scored six goals and provided one assist in his 10 league appearances this campaign. With Juventus currently finding themselves 10 points adrift of Napoli in the title race, Vlahovic could well be offered the chance to team up with Ten Hag at United for the rest of the season in their pursuit of Champions League football.
