Manchester United eye ideal Joao Felix transfer plan amid Arsenal and Chelsea talks

Manchester United are reportedly considering a loan move for Atletico Madrid forward Joao Felix amid uncertainty over his future in Spain. The Portuguese has been heavily linked with a move away and it's reported that a number of Premier League clubs are interested ahead of the January transfer window.

Felix has recently returned from Qatar where he impressed for Portugal. The 23-year-old scored in Portugal's 3-2 win over Ghana in the group stage and showed his creative side with two assists in their last-16 6-1 victory over Switzerland.

His future at the Estadio Metropolitano has seemed in doubt for some time after falling down the pecking order under Diego Simeone. Atletico themselves haven't hid away from discussing Felix's future, with CEO Gil Marin insisting the club would "consider potential bids" for the forward.

Following reports from German giants Bayern Munich had pulled out of the race for Felix, Arsenal and Chelsea face a potential blow from Premier League Manchester United. According to ESPN, the Red Devils are weighing up an offer to sign the forward on loan with an option for a permanent deal.

The structure of the deal comes due to it being likely that the Rojiblancos are keen to recoup the majority of the £113million they paid Benfica for his services in 2019. The report claims that a permanent deal is 'problematic' for United, with the club keen to defer the hefty fee until the summer.

Similar to Arsenal, Man United are a striker down going into the transfer window following Cristiano Ronaldo's release following his exit after the controversial TV interview with Piers Morgan, with the Gunners feeling the loss of Gabriel Jesus to injury. Felix boasts an impressive record in front of goal with 67 goals for Atletico after he also managed 20 in 43 games for Benfica prior.
