Manchester United discover Carabao Cup opponents after third round draw is made

Manchester United will begin their Carabao Cup journey with a home tie against Aston Villa in round three of this season's competition.

United, who were dumped out at this stage by West Ham last term, are scheduled to play the third round tie in the week commencing November 7. United have won the EFL Cup five times and are one of seven Premier League sides entering at this stage owing to European commitments.

It is six seasons since they last tasted victory in this competition. Their 3-2 win over Southampton in the 2017 final saw United race into a 2-0 lead through Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Jesse Lingard only for Saints to restore parity with goals either side of half-time.
