Manchester United defender Leny Yoro has provided an encouraging new update on his recovery from injury.
The highly-rated teenage defender moved to Old Trafford from French club Lille in a deal worth up to £58.9million in July, but quickly suffered a foot injury during the pre-season friendly against Arsenal in the United States.
Yoro underwent surgery in early August and was expected to be sidelined for approximately three months.
Little has been said about the 18-year-old’s progress since then, though he has now taken to Instagram to post a picture of himself working on a treadmill alongside the caption: “On the way back.”

Yoro’s return would be a huge boost to a United defence that has struggled badly during the club’s worst-ever start to a Premier League season, with just two wins and seven points from eight games along with back-to-back Europa League draws piling more significant pressure on under-fire manager Erik ten Hag.
The Red Devils’ leaky backline has been repeatedly hit by injuries over recent months, with Harry Maguire and Noussair Mazraoui both forced off at half-time of Sunday’s goalless draw with Aston Villa. Maguire will miss the next few weeks as a result, while the same is likely to be the case for Mazraoui after he withdrew from the Morocco squad and underwent a minor procedure following heart palpitations.
England’s Luke Shaw has not played for United at all since February as the result of hamstring and calf injuries, while fellow left-back Tyrell Malacia last featured for the club on the final day of the 2022/23 season. The likes of Lisandro Martinez and Victor Lindelof have also spent extended time on the sidelines this year, while Matthijs de Ligt has struggled for form since his summer move from Bayern Munich.
Kobbie Mainoo, Alejandro Garnacho and Amad Diallo have all also withdrawn from international duty this week due to fitness issues, while Mason Mount has been among United’s other recent absentees after suffering a head injury in the 3-0 home defeat by Tottenham.
Speaking about Yoro last month, Ten Hag said: “He is in the right spot, and he will return as soon as possible into the squad and then the team training.”
