Manchester United could have eighth fixture added to busy February schedule

Manchester United could be set to add an eighth fixture to their already busy schedule should neither themselves or Leeds United draw in the FA Cup fourth round.

Should the Reds settle their tie with Reading at Old Trafford and Leeds United beat or lose to Accrington Stanley or Boreham Wood earlier that day, the two fierce rivals will face up against each other in the Premier League on Wednesday, February 8 at 8pm. It would mean two Premier League fixtures against Leeds in just four days with the trip to Elland Road already scheduled for Sunday, February 12.

But if either side were to draw their cup ties, that midweek would be reserved for a fourth-round replay.

It is yet another match for United that they could perhaps do without considering how jam-packed those 28 days are already. MEN Sport has taken a look at how the Reds' February schedule is looking so far.

Wednesday, February 1 - Nottingham Forest (H), Carabao Cup semi-final second leg

United start the month looking to book their place at Wembley when they face Forest in the second leg of their Carabao Cup semi-final. The first leg at the City Ground takes place next Wednesday.

Saturday, February 4 - Crystal Palace (H), Premier League

After their draw on Wednesday night, United welcome Palace to Old Trafford for the reverse fixture. Erik ten Hag will be thoroughly aware of the challenge Patrick Vieira's men represent following the trip to Selhurst Park this week.

Wednesday, February 8 - Leeds United (H), Premier League (provisional)

The Reds will potentially host Leeds on this date as they look to continue building momentum in the race for the top four. If they were to draw with Reading a week on Saturday, this midweek will be reserved for a long journey down to the Madejski Stadium in the FA Cup.

Sunday, February 12 - Leeds United (A), Premier League

United will definitely take on their fierce rivals this week as a trip to Elland Road is scheduled for that weekend. Jesse Marsch's men will be in need of three points to aide their relegation fears.

Thursday, February 16 - Barcelona (A), Europa League play-off first leg

The Europa League returns for United in February as they travel to the Camp Nou for their play-off first leg against Xavi's side. All eyes will be on Frenkie de Jong after his on-off move to Old Trafford eventually fell through in the summer.

Sunday, February 19 - Leicester City (H), Premier League

Another side looking over their shoulders to the drop zone travel to the Theatre of Dreams as the Reds face Brendan Rodgers' Foxes. Jadon Sancho scored the only goal of the game earlier in the season as Ten Hag's men secured the three points.

Thursday, February 23 - Barcelona (H), Europa League play-off second leg

United will be aiming to finish the job off from a week prior as they host Barca in the return leg at Old Trafford.

Sunday, February 26 - Brentford (H), Premier League

This busy month is scheduled to end with a clash against Thomas Frank's Bees who humiliated the Reds back in August. However, should United beat Forest in the Carabao Cup, the final of the domestic competition will replace this fixture instead.
