Manchester United confirm 25-man Premier League squad for remainder of the season

Manchester United have named 23 players in a possible 25-man squad for the rest of the Premier League season.

Ralf Rangnick made it clear that United's squad was inflated following his interim appointment at the club and Anthony Martial, Amad and Donny van de Beek all left United on loan in the January window, joining Sevilla, Rangers and Everton respectively.

United have now named a 23-man squad for the rest of the Premier League season, which includes four goalkeepers.

"The group was slightly too big," Rangnick said on Thursday. "We had too many players not seeing the chance to get regular playing time this is why I'm happy for the club. Donny, Anthony, and Amad deserve regular game time, I wish them all the best."

Premier League rules outline each registered squad contains no more than 17 players who do not fulfil the 'homegrown' criteria, but United actually have nine players in the squad for the rest of the season that are considered 'homegrown' players.

Each club's registered Under-21 players aren't included in the squad limit of 25 players and so Hannibal's name isn't marked down.

Eric Bailly, Bruno Fernandes, Edinson Cavani, Diogo Dalot, David de Gea, Cristiano Ronaldo, Lee Grant, Tom Heaton, Dean Henderson, Phil Jones, Victor Lindelof, Jesse Lingard, Harry Maguire, Juan Mata, Nemanja Matic, Scott McTominay, Alex Telles, Paul Pogba, Marcus Rashford, Fred, Luke Shaw, Raphael Varane, Aaron Wan-Bissaka.

As reported by the Manchester Evening News earlier in the week, Rangnick has now confirmed Hannibal is being promoted to the first-team squad for the rest of the season. "He will, from now on, regularly train with us," Rangnick said on Thursday.

"He will also be part of the squad for tomorrow’s cup game. I saw him play in the final [Arab Cup] and, from what I’ve seen so far, I think he’s a promising talent. He deserves to be part of the group for the rest of the season."
