Manchester United co-owner Avram Glazer has seemingly confirmed that new manager Erik ten Hag will be backed in the transfer market this summer.
United officially unveiled Ten Hag as their new manager on Monday, with the Dutchman now taking over the reins from interim boss Ralf Rangnick following the conclusion of United's worst-ever Premier League campaign. Ten Hag has got a massive job on his hands and left his position at Ajax early last week in order to make a head start.
The summer transfer window will be massive for United, with plenty of recruits required to offset the exodus the club is facing. Five players - Paul Pogba, Edinson Cavani, Jesse Lingard, Nemanja Matic and Lee Grant - will leave when their contracts expire next month while Juan Mata's deal is also set to expire, though a final decision hasn't yet been made on his future.

Additionally, Dean Henderson is closing in on a move to Newcastle United, Aaron Wan-Bissaka is free to leave and the futures of Cristiano Ronaldo, Anthony Martial, Donny van de Beek, Eric Bailly, Phil Jones and even Marcus Rashford are all in doubt. United could see more than 10 players leave Old Trafford this summer.
Now Glazer appears to have confirmed that money will be available to spend on replacements. When asked by Sky Sports if the club will be able to invest this summer, he said: "We've always spent the money necessary to buy new players."
United finished the season in sixth place on just 58 points, their lowest-ever tally in the Premier League era, and a goal difference of zero. When pressed, Glazer admitted it has been an underwhelming campaign but is confident Ten Hag will turn things around.
When asked if he was disappointed with the season, Glazer initially replied: "I don’t think this is the time to talk about that." However, when it was pointed out that fans certainly are disappointed he added: "It is a disappointing season, disappointing season for everyone and we’re going to work next season to make sure it’s a better season."
Glazer was then asked if Ten Hag was the man to achieve that, to which he responded: "That’s why we hired him. He'll do a great job."
