Manchester United CEO Richard Arnold filmed giving Frenkie de Jong transfer update

Richard Arnold has promised Manchester United are doing 'everything possible' to sign Frenkie de Jong this summer.

United's CEO Arnold was speaking to a group of United supporters in his local pub in Chesire as he surprised them there before they were set to protest the Glazers' ownership of the club outside his house. Arnold spoke openly on several talks regarding the club and talk inevitably turned to the club's slow start in the transfer market.

Despite the massive rebuild that's needed at Old Trafford in order to give new manager Erik ten Hag the best chance of success, United are yet to make a signing while the likes of Manchester City, Liverpool and Tottenham have already strengthened considerably. It's understood that Ten Hag has identified De Jong as his ideal midfield signing and the perfect player to help implement his style of play on the pitch.

Arnold has confirmed that Ten Hag wants the Barcelona man and that money will not be a factor on the deal not happening.

"Money is not a consideration on who we want," Arnold said in a video posted to Twitter by user @MufcWonItAll. "The manager wants him (De Jong) and they have actually done the work. He's a great player.

"Is it 100 or 200? I don't know. Get who you f***ing want. Do you want me buying the players? Does that not ring a bell?"

Twitter user @MufcWonItAll then quoted Arnold as saying that United are doing all they can to sign De Jong but there are currently factors outside of their control preventing a deal.

"As a club we're doing everything possible to get the deal done, I've been up for days trying to get it done, the money is there but there's things standing in our way which I can't say"
