Manchester United aiming for swift Mason Mount transfer as Old Trafford set for post-takeover revamp

Manchester United will have resources available to buy a striker should they complete the signing of Mason Mount from Chelsea.

Despite ongoing uncertainty over United's ownership, the club are proceeding irrespective of the outcome due to financial fair play regulations that has left United operating on a tight budget again.

United want to sign a striker after tallying a modest 58 goals in 38 Premier League games last season, while Anthony Martial missed 33 of United's 62 matches through six separate injuries.

Old Trafford revamp

Offices at Old Trafford are due to be refurbished once the Glazer family settle on a resolution of the strategic review of Manchester United.

Maris Interiors are understood to have secured a contract to modernise the workspaces at the stadium but the agreement will only be sanctioned once there is clarity over United's ownership.

Stadium masterplanners Populous are also in a holding pattern, having presented plans of a redesign or a rebuild of Old Trafford last year.
