Manchester United are said to have reached an agreement for the transfer of Cody Gakpo.
The 23-year-old has scored in each of the Netherlands’ two World Cup games so far, adding to the 13 goals he has scored for PSV already this season having also tallied a huge 17 assists. MEN sport understands United are open to searching for a new striker upon the exit of Cristiano Ronaldo.
Anthony Martial and Marcus Rashford are the only two players recognised as being able to operate as a main striker, although the former has been riddled with injury this season while none of Rashford’s eight goals this term have come when leading the line.

United spoke to Gakpo about a potential move over the summer before Erik ten Hag opted to shell out £85million for Antony. The player admitted it was a “shame” the move didn’t come off but hasn’t let it impact his form this season
United have still been heavily linked with the in-form Gakpo since then with speculation only increasing amid the exit of Ronaldo. Now, Football Insider claims that United have reached an agreement in principle for the attacker, who can operate either as a winger or a central forward. However, it's claimed the club still have work to do to convince PSV to let him leave in January.
Meanwhile, Sky Germany reporter Florian Plettenberg says United outcast Aaron Wan-Bissaka will be allowed to leave on loan in January.
The defender has played just four minutes this season and isn’t favoured by Ten Hag. The Dutchman instead opted to play Tyrell Malacia at right-back when Diogo Dalot was suspended against Fulham in United’s final game before the World Cup.
His future under Ten Hag looks bleak and a permanent exit could be on the cards if the Reds bring in another right-back in the next few transfer windows.
