Ten Hag explains why United have extended four contracts
Erik ten Hag says that Diogo Dalot, Fred, Marcus Rashford and Luke Shaw will all have key roles to play going forward at Manchester United.
United officially confirmed on Saturday morning that they have triggered one-year extension clauses for the players. The quartet were all technically out of contract at the end of the season, though all had one-year options in their deals to keep playing at the club for an additional season.
Ten Hag has now revealed that those four options have been taken, meaning the four senior players will remain at the club until 2024. It gives United longer to decide what they want to do with the players in the long-term and effectively adds another year for them to negotiate a new contract if they wish.
When asked about the future of the four players ahead of the upcoming trip to face Nottingham Forest, Ten Hag said: "Yes, I can confirm it."
