Manchester United ace Christian Eriksen names his two footballing idols

Manchester United star Christian Eriksen has revealed that Italian legend Francesco Totti and Danish icon Michael Laudrup were the two football heroes that he looked up to most when growing up.

Eriksen has been at the heart of United's midfield creativity since his move to Old Trafford in the summer. Erik ten Hag has turned to the Danish international for every single match this season across all competitions, apart from a 0-0 draw against Newcastle where he was unavailable through illness.

The Dane has settled into life at his new club remarkably quickly, already providing six assists, with Eriksen getting his first goal for United against Fulham in the final game before the World Cup. The 30-year-old has now turned his attention to helping his nation go as far as possible in Qatar.

The former Brentford man's World Cup appearance against Tunisia last week, saw him feature in a major international tournament for the first time since his cardiac arrest during a Euro 2020 match vs Finland.

Eriksen made his senior international debut for Denmark in 2010 aged 18, and was the youngest player at the 2010 World Cup finals in South Africa. Growing up, the midfielder had an abundance of talented stars to watch and learn from, but the United man has now revealed during a fans' Q&A session that there were two players in particular that he looked up to the most.

He said: "I had two, [Francesco] Totti because I played Football Manager [the video game] and then, after, it was Laudrup. Michael Laudrup, the one and only. Just because he was Danish and I liked his style."
