Manchester’s 20 Stories has been named as one of the best rooftop bars in the world - beating out venues in Melbourne, Istanbul and Houston.
In a study by Mandoemedia.com, 200 of the world’s rooftop bars were ranked on a number of factors including customer experience, price and social media shares in order to track down the best place to grab a drink with a view.
Bangkok’s AkaAza Bar came out top on the list for its pool bar and panoramic views of the city’s skyline, while The Rooftop at Serras in Barcelona and Terraz at the Principal in Madrid rounded out the top three.

20 Stories, situated on Hardman Square in Spinningfields, came in fifth place on the list after 56 pc of patrons left an ‘excellent’ review on Tripadvisor. The restaurant and bar also had more than 5,800 social shares on Instagram, while its £27 price tag for a bottle of wine also came in favour.
Discussing the venue, Mandoemedia.com said: “20 Stories, located in Spinningfields, scored reasonably high on customer satisfaction, with 56% of patrons leaving an ‘excellent’ review on Tripadvisor.
“Set against the beautiful backdrop of the city’s skyline, it’s no surprise that just under 6,000 people had Instagrammed the view from the terrace, and with a bottle of wine costing a fair £27, it places Manchester’s bar 5th overall in the world’s rooftop bar index.”
The Manchester venue was the highest ranking rooftop bar in the UK overall, with London’s Madison and Roof East ranking at 12th and 14th place respectively.
However, Five in Liverpool ranked highest when it came to customer experience after receiving 82.14 pc of ‘excellent’ reviews. London’s rooftop bar ‘St James’ in Trafalgar Square was the only other UK venue to reach the top 20 for customer experience with a score of 77.21 pc.
Manchester’s Cloud 23, based at the Beetham Tower in Deansgate, was the only other venue from the city-region to place in the overall top 200, coming in at 128th on the list.
Other rooftop bars faring well overall included Rustic Root in San Diego, Level 27 in Warsaw and Liverpool's Liberte.
