Manchester restaurant rated among best Sunday roasts in the UK

Acclaimed Manchester restaurant Elnecot can add another string to its bow - as it has been named among the top 10 best Sunday roast dinners in the country. The restaurant and bar in Ancoats has been winning all sorts of awards since launching in the hip district back in 2017.

Now its Sunday roast offering has been placed in the spotlight, in a new study released ahead of Roast Dinner Day (yep, apparently that's a thing) which is on November 4. Elnecot ranks at number 10 in a list of the Top 10 best reviewed Sunday roasts on Tripadvisor in the study compiled by Tombola.

It's the only Manchester restaurant that features in the list, with the top spot in the study claimed by The Lion pub in Bristol, while number two is Busy and Wilds in Brighton. Taking third and fourth spot are two Leeds restaurants - The Fox & Hounds and Dill and Bay.

Elnecot offers a range of different roast meats as well as vegan and vegetarian offerings at its Blossom Street restaurant. They are served every sunday from 1.30pm "until they run out".

The epic Sunday roasts at Elnecot (Elnecot)

Our reviewer went to try the Sunday roasts at Elnecot back in 2019, when it was hailed: "As good as your mothers". Although even back then it was PACKED on a Sunday, so good luck trying to get a booking since word has well and truly got out.

It also features on the MEN's list of best Sunday roasts across Manchester. You can see all of the places we rank among the best here.

Prices start at £14.50 for the vegan or vegetarian nut roast option at Elnecot - with the vegan roast served without Yorkshire pudding but with extra seasonal vegetables. And you can also opt for any of the roast dishes as a kids portion for half price.

Meat-eaters can choose between slow-cooked shoulder of Yorkshire lamb (£17), crispy, slow-roasted Yorkshire pork belly (£16), Lemon, thyme & butter roasted Goosnargh chicken with confit leg (£17) or go for the classic Dry-aged Welsh Wagyu topside (£18). They all come served with roast potatoes, Yorkshire pudding, stuffing, roasted carrots & parsnips, sautéed greens, cauliflower cheese and a rich gravy.

That's quite a Yorkie (Elnecot)

You can also add on EXTRA meat portions for £7, extra roasties for £4 and an extra Yorkie for £2.

Recent reviews on Tripadvisor have seen visitors impressed with the Gluten-free Sunday roast, while other reviewers were enamoured by the wagyu-beef offering. Reviewer LMaryH wrote: "I can categorically say that these are the best Sunday dinners I've ever had! Exceptional Sunday selection!! Everything cooked to perfection and very tasty".

It was Tripadvisor reviews used to compile the new list of Top 10 Sunday roasts by bingo site Tombola, as part of its aim to find the best cities across the UK for days out. They said they combed 30,000 reviews to find the best Sunday roasts according to diners across the UK.

Also making the Top 10 list were the Victoria Restaurant in York, Gwaelod y Garth Inn in Cardiff, The Clarendon Arms in Cambridge, Chez Mal Brasserie in Newcastle and Chris and Jo's Kitchen in Bristol.
