Budget hotel chain Travelodge is transforming 60 of its hotels with a new ‘budget-luxe’ design - and Manchester Piccadilly is one of the group’s first hotels to be upgraded. The hotel will unveil its new look on Friday August 26, just in time for the Bank Holiday weekend.
The multi-million pound upgrade programme is Travelodge’s biggest brand transformation to date and it was developed using feedback from around 5,000 UK business and leisure travellers.
The chain says a key feature of the budget-luxe hotels is a "tasteful colour palette", which includes a signature navy blue echoing the Travelodge brand colour. The hotel’s reception will include contemporary leather bench seating and wooden-style flooring.

Guests will be able to relax and recharge in the next generation bedrooms, decorated with calming colours for the ‘rest’ section of the room, and energising tones for the areas where you get ready. A luxurious king-size bed sits atop of a light box, designed to emit a soft glow to help you relax.
There’s a spacious desk for business travellers, while a cosy armchair is perfect for curling up with a book. En-suite bathrooms have a new brilliant white design and complimentary hand, hair and bodywash.
Another key aspect of the budget-luxe designs are sustainable initiatives. The new carpets are made from recycled fishing nets, while the backing is made of old plastic bottles. Other eco-friendly features include low energy lighting, motion sensing controls and aerated showers and taps.
Martin Grady, manager at Manchester Piccadilly Travelodge, said: “My team and I are delighted that our hotel is one of the first Travelodge’s to be upgraded to the new budget-luxe premium look and feel design. This is our most radical brand transformation to date and the budget-luxe design certainly has the wow factor for our customers.
“The Travelodge budget-luxe design has been created in response to ever increasing expectations from customers. Britain is now a nation of budget travellers, with more of us choosing to stay in budget hotels than any other hotel type and thoughtful, stylish design and homely touches really matter in today’s world when staying away for business or leisure.”
