Man City XI vs Brighton: De Bruyne starts - Starting lineup, confirmed team news and injury latest for Premier League

Manchester City welcomed Kevin De Bruyne back into the starting lineup for Wednesday’s visit of Brighton, although Kyle Walker was not fit enough to make the squad.

Both players missed the FA Cup semi-final defeat to Liverpool after picking up injuries against Atletico Madrid last week.

De Bruyne was on the bench despite not being fit to feature, while Walker required a protective boot after injuring his ankle in Spain.

The right-back’s absence is helped by Ruben Dias returning to the starting XI after a spell on the bench as he comes back from a hamstring injury.

Pep Guardiola was able to leave Aymeric Laporte, Ilkay Gundogan, Rodri and Ederson on the bench at Wembley but all four start against Brighton.

Gabriel Jesus suffered a knock at Wembley but makes the bench.

“When I make a selection always I am thinking about the players I don't allow to play,” Guardiola said after the defeat. “When I have the chance to do it I will do it.

“I felt for the circumstances, I spoke with officials, with the doctors, with my staff and I said what is the best. I'm happy to give the opportunity for all the players who last period didn't play much, because I know the players and I know where it comes from.”

Manchester City starting XI: Ederson; Cancelo, Laporte, Dias, Ake; Gundogan, Rodri, De Bruyne; Mahrez, Foden, Silva.
