Newcastle United club captain Jamaal Lascelles returned to the team to face title chasing Manchester City at the Etihad Stadium.
Eddie Howe did not name Fabian Schar with the Switzerland star picking up a head wound in the Carabao Cup final. January signing Anthony Gordon was also restored to the line-up in place of Allan Saint-Maximin.
Unsurprisingly, Nick Pope returned between the posts for the big clash at Eastlands with Loris Karius stepping down after Wembley last weekend. Howe named Kieran Trippier at right-back while Lascelles partnered Sven Botman in the heart of defence.
