Manchester City vs Everton Preview, Prediction, Team News and Predicted Lineups

Manchester City welcome Everton on Boxing Day and you can find our preview, prediction, team news and predicted lineups below.

Manchester City vs Everton Preview

Manchester City’s misery in the Premier League continued in GW17, as the Cityzens suffered a 2-1 defeat against Aston Villa to make it just one win from 11 across all competitions.

Pep Guardiola’s side are now seventh in the table and are 12 points behind table-topping Liverpool, as City’s dominance in England looks to be coming to an end.

City have now lost three consecutive matches in all competitions for the second time already this season, which has never happened under Guardiola.

The champions welcome Everton in the opening kick-off on Boxing Day, with the Toffee’s hoping to build on two good results from their last two fixtures.

Sean Dyche’s side held both Arsenal and Chelsea to 0-0 stalemates, with four of their last six league matches ending in a goalless draw.

However, the blue half of Merseyside will be looking to turn these draws into victories as they are only four points away from the relegation zone.

Manchester City vs Everton Team News

Manchester City’s defensive injury concerns continue, as John Stones was forced off at half-time during the defeat to Villa and Ruben Dias is also set to miss the Boxing Day clash.

Ederson is also a doubt for the match, while Rodri, Oscar Bobb and Matheus Nunes are all unavailable for selection through injury.

As for Sean Dyche’s side, they face no real major injury concerns and left the Chelsea clash with no new issues – however Chermiti will still be on the sidelines for the City clash.

Dwight McNeil was out of action against Chelsea and Arsenal, but is expected to return for the trip to Manchester and Ashley Young will miss out through suspension.

Manchester City vs Everton Predicted Lineups

Manchester City: Ortega; Gvardiol, Akanji, Ake; Gundogan, De Bruyne, Silva, Kovacic; Foden, Haaland, Doku

Everton: Pickford; Coleman, Tarkowski, Branthwaite, Mykolenko; Gueye, Doucoure, Mangala; McNeil, Calvert-Lewin, Ndiaye

Manchester City vs Everton Prediction

Despite their recent run of form, Manchester City are still heavy favourites to win this match on UK betting sites – as Guardiola looks to turn things around.

With that in mind, we expect the hosts to end their string of defeats and pick up a narrow victory over a resilient Everton side.

Prediction: Manchester City 2-1 Everton
