Dominic Booth is at Goodison Park this afternoon for Everton v West Ham. Here’s what he had to say about the first half…
“It’s been a rather forgettable first half between two clubs who have little to play for, save for a bit of pride. Everton and West Ham’s places in next season’s Premier League are so secure that David Moyes and Graham Potter were able to engage in a lengthy pre-match chat on the Goodison Park turf. There’s a lot of mutual respect between the two managers and their teams have cancelled each other out so far. The closest we’ve come to a goal was when Jarrad Branthwaite inadvertently headed towards his own net from a Hammers’ corner, with Jordan Pickford springing acrobatically to save. Everton have been slightly more dominant otherwise but this game needs a spark.
“For the penalty incicent, Beto appeared to have been tripped by Konstantinos Mavropanos but the VAR Chris Kavanagh deemed there wasn’t conclusive evidence of a foul. It was a tough one to call. Beto did seem to kick the ground before he went over.”
