Manchester City team plane's aborted landing in Storm Dudley winds

This footage captures the moment a plane carrying Manchester City players attempted to land in Manchester before being diverted to Liverpool.

The Titan Airways flight carrying the squad back from Lisbon tried to touch down three times in high winds during Storm Dudley.

After not managing land due to the extreme weather, the plane was diverted to Liverpool John Lennon Airport, on Wednesday, February 16.

A video posted to AviationUpclose YouTube shows the plane trying to land in Manchester before aborting and heading to Liverpool.

A spokesperson for the club said: "We can confirm the plane transporting the first team home from Lisbon has landed safely in Liverpool, after high winds forced a diversion from Manchester."

Liverpool Airport joked on Twitter, posting: "Great to safely welcome Manchester City to the football capital of England this afternoon, after their flight was diverted from their home airport due to high winds."

Earlier this week The Met Office issued a "danger to life" weather warning for Merseyside as Storm Dudley makes it's way across the country.

Storm Dudley is the first of two storms set to arrive in Merseyside this week, with a yellow weather warning in place from Wednesday through to Friday.

Storm Eunice is set to move in to replace Storm Dudley on Friday, bringing more strong winds and potentially some snow for parts of the UK.
