Manchester City star Bernardo Silva and girlfriend welcome ‘new family member’

Manchester City footballer Bernardo Silva has welcomed a “new family member” with his girlfriend Ines Degener Tomaz.

The Blues midfielder, 28, announced his engagement to Portuguese model Ines, 24, in May this year, two months after welcoming French Bulldog John. Silva named the pup in honour of his City teammate John Stones, who he has described as his “good friend”.

Speaking in an Instagram video at the time, Silva said he is “very close” with Stones and “always said to him if I ever get a dog I would call him John.” He added: “It's actually a great name, we love it.

“It suits him, he is a beautiful boy and very intelligent."

On Friday, Silva and Ines took to Instagram to share a cute snap of the beaming couple posing on a park bench with John on Silva’s lap, while Ines wraps her arms around their latest furry addition, Charles. Captioning the post, Ines wrote: “New family member. Welcome Charles,” followed by a red heart emoji.

Fans of the Portugal international were quick to congratulate the couple, with many joking he should have name the pooch after another teammate. One follower wrote: “Congratulations on your new fur baby. Welcome to the sky blue family Charles.

“Shocked that he isn’t named Kyle Walker.”

City news page city_xtra said: “Missed the chance to have John and Ruben,” referencing Silva’s Portugal teammate Rúben Neves.

“Awww, what a beautiful family! Charles looks so soft and cute,” said a third.

City teammate Riyad Mahrez also seemed to find the name funny responding with "Charles" followed by two laughing face emojis.

And Mahrez's partner Taylor ward replied: "Awh too cute".

Earlier this week, Silva came on as a late sub in City’s Champions League tie with F.C. Copenhagen, in which a ten-man City were held to a tight 0-0 draw by the Danish side.
