Phil Foden is set to become the latest Manchester City star to commit his long-term future to the club.

The 18-year-old is nearing agreement over a new six-year contract to end talk of a move abroad.

Foden is the shining light of City’s much-celebrated academy and the Premier League champions have made clear he is considered the future of the club.

Borussia Dortmund were among the European giants monitoring his situation, having already successfully lured Jadon Sancho from the Etihad.

But Foden, a life-long City fan, maintains ambitions of becoming a club legend like his heroes growing up.

Foden will be latest star to commit himself to City, following Raheem Sterling, who signed a five-year contract last week.

David Silva, Kevin de Bruyne, Ederson and Sergio Aguero are among other key players to pen new deals over the past 12 months.

Leroy Sane is next on City’s agenda.

Foden’s deal is yet to be confirmed by the club, but it’s understood talks are progressing well.
