Manchester City’s triumphant Premier League victory at the weekend has been depicted in LEGO brick form to mark the momentous occasion.
Talented master model builders at the LEGOLAND Discovery Centre Manchester in the Trafford Centre have unveiled a 3,126-brick creation featuring a huge Premier League trophy positioned on top of a LEGO Etihad Stadium.
On Sunday (May 22), Manchester City clinched the Premier League title for the second successive season after beating Aston Villa with a 3-2 victory. The win marks the sixth Premier League title for the club in 11 seasons.
The replica LEGO Premier League trophy, which will be on display at the centre’s MINILAND attraction, is accompanied by City themed décor and LEGO mini figure fans enjoying the celebrations - dressed head to toe in the Manchester City baby blue strip whilst waving flags to mark the occasion.
Jenn McDonough, General Manager at LEGOLAND Discovery Centre Manchester, said: “We are all extremely proud of Manchester City’s achievements this season. The team deserve to be celebrated for the second year running, so we’re happy to be playing a part in honouring their success!
“Our MINILAND is home to some of the best sights Manchester has to offer recreated in brick form, so we’re extremely excited to add the Premier League trophy to the attraction, alongside a celebratory party outside the stadium. We look forward to welcoming guests into the attraction to continue the Man City celebrations with us.”
Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola said the atmosphere at the Etihad Stadium during Sunday's match was the best he has known since arriving at the club. He said: “(It was) the best I lived since I was here - the last two games but today was so special."
The manager added: "In the last five years, four Premier Leagues, these guys are legends, people have to admit it. They are eternal in this club, what we’ve achieved is so difficult, only Sir Alex Ferguson has done it (in the Premier League era). I don’t know exactly how many times he did it. but we will defend our crown in this country again for one year.”
Manchester City players will take part in an open-top bus parade later today to celebrate the historic Premier League title win. The parade will go through Manchester's city centre before concluding with a live stage show.
