Manchester City's most likely opponents in Champions League last-16 identified

Manchester City emphatically sealed their place in the last-16 of this season's Champions League.

Pep Guardiola's side went unbeaten in the group stages, winning four out of six games and finishing on a high with a 3-1 victory over Sevilla at the Etihad on Wednesday night. Rico Lewis became Manchester City’s youngest Champions League goalscorer as Pep Guardiola’s side came from behind to win their final group game.

Rafa Mir had given the Spanish side a surprise lead but City stepped up after Lewis’ leveller early in the second half and went on to win convincingly with strikes from Julian Alvarez and Riyad Mahrez. The wait is now on to see who they will face in the next round.

Ties are scheduled to take place across February and March 2023, with the draw being held on Monday, November 7 at UEFA's headquarters in Switzerland. City know the identity of the six teams who they could face - but now a fan on Reddit has built a probability tool to identify who they're most likely to be drawn against.

And it predicts City's most likely opponents are Inter Milan with a probability of drawing Guardiola's side of 18.89 per cent. Just behind them are Eintracht Frankfurt (18.14 per cent), AC Milan (17.8 per cent) and RB Leipzig (17.41 per cent).

Both Club Bruges and Paris Saint-Germain are rated at having a 13.88 per cent chance of being paired with City. City cannot face either of the other two group runners-up, Liverpool and Borussia Dortmund.

Teams from the same country cannot be paired together in the last-16 nor can teams that were placed in the same group in the last round.
