Manchester City keeper Sandy MacIver withdraws from Lionesses squad

Manchester City goalkeeper Sandy MacIver has pulled out of the England squad for games against Brazil and Australia due to injury.

Lionesses boss Sarina Wiegman has opted to not call anyone else up, meaning she will be left with two goalkeepers.

MacIver is the second player to pull out with injury ahead of the upcoming games, with Chelsea defender Millie Bright forced to withdraw last week. Bright, however, was replaced by Arsenal centre-back Lotte Wubben-Moy.

Wiegman has 24 players to pick from ahead of England’s game with Brazil on Thursday and Tuesday’s clash with Australia.

The match with Brazil is the inaugural women’s Finalissima and sees the champions of Europe and South America go to head to head. The game will be played in front of a sold-out crowd at Wembley.

England will then face Australia at Brentford’s Gtech Community Stadium on Tuesday, which will be the last game before Wiegman names her squad for this summer’s World Cup.
