Manchester City handed huge injury boost ahead of Arsenal Premier League title decider

Manchester City star Phil Foden has returned to training after recovering from an injury just a week before a potential Premier League title-deciding clash against Arsenal. The Gunners are currently four points ahead of City but have the chance to extend their lead to seven points if they beat Southampton on Friday night.

Pep Guardiola's side will head into the huge clash against the north Londoners at the Etihad Stadium with two games in hand due to their FA Cup involvement this weekend. City will take on Bayern Munich in their Champions League quarter-final second-leg on Wednesday night holding a 3-0 advantage following a brilliant first-leg performance.

Foden has not been available for selection in City's last four matches across all competitions but he has hardly been missed given their brilliant run of form - winning 10 games in a row. The England international's return will boost Guardiola's options and ability to rotate his squad to deal with their busy fixture schedule - whilst Arsenal's only focus is on the Premier League title race.

The Gunners will hope that William Saliba can make a return to action against City at the Etihad Stadium after he was spotted in the gym this week. The French defender has been sidelined with a back injury since Arsenal's exit from the Europa League against Sporting CP.

Foden has scored 13 goals and provided a further six assists for City this season and his return this week will add to their attacking threat as they look to pick up a third win against the Gunners this term. Guardiola's side beat Arsenal at the Emirates Stadium in February, just two weeks after knocking Mikel Arteta's side out of the FA Cup.

Arteta has only got the better of his former mentor once in nine attempts, losing eight of those meeting. The Gunners will need to take three points from the Etihad Stadium if they are to give themselves breathing space at the top of the table with City in brilliant form and looking to win their fifth Premier League title in six years.
