Schofield’s Bar is now officially one of the very best cocktail bars in the world. The long list of this year’s World’s 50 Best Bars, from 51 to 100, has been released ahead of the annual top 50 being announced next week.
Schofield’s, on Little Quay Street, is in at number 59 in the list, which is voted for by industry experts from around the world. It’s the first time that a UK bar outside of London or Edinburgh has been included in the list.
Overall the UK leads in Europe with four bars out of a total of 16. The London bars featuring in the long list include Three Sheets at 72, Side Hustle at 75 and the Donovan Bar at 89. The announcement of the top 50 happens next week in Barcelona.
The 50 to 100 list also features bars in Singapore, Nairobi, Sao Paulo and Bogata.
It’s not the first time that Schofield’s has received acclaim. Earlier this year it was ranked 16 in the UK’s top 50 bars, and was also named Bar of the Year and New Bar of the Year, the first time a bar has won both categories, at the annual Class Bar Awards.
It opened in 2021 on the site of The Old Grapes pub, and along with the likes of Blinker and Speak In Code, has become a staple in the city’s thriving cocktail bar scene. Last week, owners Joe and Daniel Schofield opened new bar Sterling in the basement vault of the Stock Exchange Hotel.
The bar also features snacks by Tom Kerridge, who also runs the Bull & Bear restaurant upstairs.
