Manchester Airport has issued a stark warning to all travellers as they could be "left behind" as flights leave without them.
The airport has thrown its weight behind a campaign aimed at making sure passengers are safe and responsible.
While many people like to start their trip early and enjoy an alcoholic beverage at the airport, a tweet from the airport's official account warns people not to drink too much before they depart.

It said: "We’re supporting the #OneTooMany campaign. Don’t get left behind, travel responsibly and avoid serious consequences."
A graphic accompanying the tweet added that drinking too much while flying can even result in up to two years in prison. Holidaymakers could face a £5,000 fine if their disruptive behaviour results in a flight being delayed.
The fine could be as high as £80,000 if the disruptive behaviour happened mid air and forces the plane to divert. If you cause a flight to be cancelled then you may be hit with an airline ban.
The UK aviation industry said it is "committed to tackling disruptive behaviour through a voluntary Code of Practice". The practice promotes:
- A zero-tolerance approach to disruptive behaviour
- The identification, pre-emption, management and reporting of disruptive incidents
- The responsible sale and consumption of alcohol; and
- Education and communication with passengers.
