Manchester Airport launches new flight route ahead of summer

A new direct flight route has been launched from Manchester Airport ahead of the busiest summer for travel in years.

It is expected to be the busiest year for departures after many trips were cancelled due to covid. Earlier this year, Jet2 added thousands of extra holidays and flight seats to cope with surging summer demand from people wishing to soak up some sun.

More services have been introduced on some of the airline's most popular routes. As covid rules relax, people are once again putting travel back on the agenda.

A new flight route from Manchester Airport will mean passengers can fly directly to Kuwait via Kuwait Airlines. In a move seen as a boost to the economies of both Kuwait and the north on England, flights will operate three times weekly as of May 1.

Thousands of people currently travel from the airport to Kuwait indirectly. A further 800,000 people from across the North travel to a range of Kuwait Airways’ onward destinations that are not currently served by Manchester Airport, including Bangkok, Mumbai, Delhi, and Manila.

Maen Razouqi, Kuwait Airways Chief Executive Officer, stated: “Kuwait Airways is proceeding ahead, according to its well-thought-out and effective plans in moving forward towards expanding its network of operations around the world, with the launch of new and diverse destinations that suit the preferences of its customers and meet their aspirations.

"“Manchester as a destination is of great importance to Kuwait Airways’ customers. The selection came after an increased demand for it as a distinct destination for tourists, especially in the summer season, which is expected to witness an unprecedented boom in the tourism, travel, and hospitality sectors."
