Many jobs are currently available at Manchester Airport.
There are vacancies in security, transport and hospitality at the airport, which is the UK's third largest. It offers routes to over 200 destinations and connects 27m passengers a year.
Manchester Airport Holdings (trading as MAG), which owns the airport, already supports around 20,000 jobs onsite, generating £7.75bn for the region. There is a chance to join this business with advertised roles on both a part and full-time basis.

In 2023, as the travel sector continues to experience increased post-pandemic demand, it is looking for new staff to support its business and the many customers that use it each day, reports the Manchester Evening News.
Here, we list roles currently on offer at the airport.
Security Officer
£12.88 per hour including 22.5 percent shift allowance
Manchester Airport is hiring security officers, described by the employer as “one of the most vital roles in the airport.”
The role may include duties such as:
- Conducting hand searches of cabin luggage and passengers
- Body searching (pat-downs) of passengers
- Operating high-tech security equipment such as X-ray machines and body scanners
- Patrolling the terminals
- Checking staff ID cards and passenger boarding cards before entering the security area
The role will require long periods of standing, bending, walking and manual handling. The airport says that candidates do not need to have any previous security experience as training will be provided. However, candidates should have previous experience in a customer service-based role.
Security officers will either work 38 hours in a full-time role or 31 hours in a part-time role on a range of shifts including night shifts, early mornings, weekends and bank holidays. Candidates will need to be flexible as shifts can vary in length between four and 12 hours.

Meet and Greet Driver
£15,204.86 per annum plus 22.5 percent shift allowance, totalling £18,625.95
The airport is hiring Meet and Greet drivers to help with the movement of up to 4,000 customer cars per day. You will also cover host/reception duties as and when required.
Meet and Greet drivers will have responsibility for:
- The movement and parking of a range of vehicles
- Checking and recording of any damage
- Greeting customers, checking booking info, providing assistance and directions for parking location
- Ensuring keys and vehicles are stored securely
- Ensuring customer records on the booking system are accurate
Candidates should be careful and experienced drivers with at least two years of driving experience and no more than three penalty points on their licence.
This is a permanent role requiring 30 hours per week. Shifts work on a five-days-on, three-days-off basis and may start as early as 3am.

Coach Driver
£11.03 plus 17.5 percent shift allowance, totalling £12.96 per hour
Manchester Airport also needs drivers to transport staff and passengers to various locations on or around the airport, such as the six car parks on the site.
Coach drivers will be responsible for:
- Safely transporting the public and authorised users to the various car parks, terminal buildings and operational areas on the Airport premises
- Assisting passengers, when necessary, with their luggage and ensuring that items are safely secure on the vehicle
- Reporting any defects on either the coaches or any other parking equipment to ensure the safety and comfort of the customers
- Reporting any suspicious circumstances or damaged vehicles observed
- Preparing written official reports as and when requested in connection with incidents if involved or witnessed whilst on duty
The role requires you to have a clean driving licence and to have held a PCV licence for at least two years. In addition to this, you also need to hold a valid CPC driver validation card.
This is a permanent role and requires 40 hours a week. The airport says full flexibility is essential as the role covers a 24/7 operation which will include a mix of day and night shifts.

Hospitality Host
£11.42 per hour including shift allowance
As the airport expands and opens more venues, it has several opportunities to join its hospitality team.
The duties of this role include:
- Provide a meet and greet service to users of the lounges
- Ensure lounge facilities are maintained to a high standard and consistently presented in line with the Standards of Operations, carrying out the required standards checks
- Ensure accurate records are maintained of all lounge customers while maintaining a database of all bookings
- Take monies for direct bookings either by telephone or on the day of travel and reconcile all monies taken
- Prepare and serve beverages in according to the product directions and in accordance with the alcohol licence
- Provide assisted service to guests during their stay with business services including fax, computer access and printing
Candidates must be flexible as you will be required to work a range of shifts. Early shifts can start as early as 3.30am and late shifts can finish as late as 10.00pm. The airport lounges are open seven days a week with shifts typically confirmed at least two weeks in advance.

Baggage Systems Operative
£24,560 per annum
As a Baggage Systems Operative, you will be part of a quick response, reactive team responsible for maintaining a high level of availability for all baggage systems at Manchester Airport.
Duties in this role may include:
- Managing minor system failures and baggage blockages
- Carry out planned cleaning tasks to the baggage system and surrounding areas, as well as planned and reactive maintenance
- Use corporate systems to record all works carried out and ensure all engineering and operational records are updated
- Use the SCADA monitoring system to prioritise reactive actions in the case of multiple stoppages
- Respond to any queries from airport users, providing an informative, courteous and helpful customer service
Candidates should ideally be qualified to NVQ2 in an associated discipline, with the ability to work as part of a team or as an individual. This is a permanent role with either an immediate start or an April 2023 start.

Car Parking Operations Manager
Competitive salary
Manchester Airport is looking for a Car Parking Operations Manager who will lead up to 15 Car Park Team Managers and a colleague population of around 300.
Duties in this role include:
- The overseeing of training, development and performance management of all Car Park Operations colleagues
- Ensuring operational resilience is maintained and Business Continuity plans are updated and maintained
- Setting clear direction and focus for the Car Park Operations colleagues to ensure achievement of service performance standards
- Monitoring car parks performance on a daily basis, utilising appropriate systems to analyse throughputs and demands to aid planning and resource utilisation
- Managing all operational health and safety requirements and developing a safety focused culture within the Car Park Operations teams
The airport says the ideal candidate will be a natural problem solver who will work well in a fast-paced environment with a sound commercial awareness. They will be able to demonstrate excellent people leadership skills and experience with an ability to work cross functionally across both business-as-usual and project workstreams

Airfield Security Officer
£12.36 per hour including 17.5 percent shift allowance
The airport has several opportunities to join its busy Airfield Security Operations Team.
This role may include such duties as:
Undertaking patrols by foot and vehicle of the airfield and perimeter fence
Operating X-ray equipment, other screening and detection devices (including acting as a member of mobile X-ray team)
Carrying out searches of staff, airport workers, persons detained by HM Immigration, and their visitors
Checking staff ID cards
Prevention of prohibited articles entering the restricted zone, and confiscation of prohibited items
Assist in the evacuation of passengers, staff and visitors in emergency situations
Report any suspicious persons/vehicles and any damage to the perimeter of the restricted zone
This is a part-time role and requires 20 hours per week with a varied shift pattern of early and late starts. Candidates must hold a full UK driving licence, while previous experience of working in the Airfield Operation and a current Airside Driving Permit would be advantageous.

Aviation Security Officer - Hold Baggage Screening
£12.12 per hour including 17.5 percent shift allowance
Manchester Airport is seeking pro-active, focused and motivated individuals to join its Hold Baggage Screening (HBS) Team.
Duties will include:
Analysing X-ray images and possible threats using approved equipment at various locations across the airport site
Following the HBS operating protocol/procedures including performing daily/weekly testing of all HBS X-ray equipment in accordance with CAA and Service Delivery Standards
Remaining alert and vigilant to activity on the airport and periphery to ensure risks are minimised through prompt action and reporting to Team Leaders
Carry out security functions as part of the wider MAG network
The airport says that candidates do not need to have any previous security experience as training will be provided. This is a full-time role with 40 hours per week required.

Commercial Analyst
Base salary dependent on experience plus annual bonus
MAG has an opportunity for a commercial analyst to support and develop the analytical capability of its e-commerce team. The role will involve developing good working relationships with traders, providing advice and assistance in any area associated with the analysis and communication of our performance, to ultimately ensure maximum business benefit is gained from investments.
Duties will include:
Supporting the trading managers and heads of e-commerce with optimising their trading strategy by analysing key markets
Analysing the pricing/discount and product changes implemented by the trading managers and working in collaboration with them to improve performance
Developing effective visualisations of data/analyses to help communicate downturns in performance and opportunities
Supporting the overall budget planning process, working collaboratively with trading managers on future business plans
Sharing insight, skills and experience and promoting effective working relationships amongst analysts throughout the business
Dealing with complex data sets and what appropriate tools to employ

Risk & Assurance Manager

Manchester Airport is looking for a Risk & Assurance Manager to play a key role in the development of its Programme Management Office (PMO) and take the lead on risk management across its development function.
Duties within this role include:
Taking accountability for developing and implementing a project risk management procedure and increasing our maturity level on project risk.
Acting as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) within the Development function for risk management
Taking the lead on providing assurance that the risk controls are being implemented and are effective
Providing support to project delivery in quantifying risk on capital projects
Carrying out external benchmarking on risk management best practice to identify continuous improvement opportunities
Development of business case for risk management software
The airport is looking for candidates with a proven track record working within risk management with a minimum of five years’ experience, plus 10 years’ experience working within construction or civil engineering. You must also have a construction or engineering professional qualification, an APM Risk Management Certificate or equivalent and be educated to a degree level.
This is a hybrid working role with frequent travel to other MAG airports required.
