Manchester Airport has warned holidaymakers that they could face “longer immigration queues” today (Wednesday, March 15) as Border Force staff walk out. Workers with the Public and Commercial Service (PCS) union are on strike until around 7am on March 16.
The industrial action is taking place at all UK airports and maritime ports. This could lead to delays at border control for those arriving in the country.
The Home Office has said that it is working closely with Border Force to “minimise disruption and delays” during the strike and that it had resources available to deploy to support the flow of travellers. The airport added that it did not expect any cancellations and that passengers will not need to change their travel plans.

In a statement published on Twitter, Manchester Airport said: “Passengers travelling back into Manchester Airport on Wednesday 15 March may experience longer immigration queues than normal due to strike action being taken by UK Border Force officers at all UK airports.
“At Manchester Airport, we do not anticipate any cancellations and passengers do not need to change their travel plans unless otherwise advised by their airline. For more information, visit www.gov.uk.”
