Manchester Airport issues new warning to all travellers

Manchester Airport has issued a warning to all passengers due to arrive at, or return to, the airport this week.

The Public Commercial Services Union's National Executive Committee has announced strike action, meaning thousands of people will likely be impacted as border force staff are expected to walk out at airports across the country on Wednesday, March 15.

Strike action will also impact international arrivals at maritime ports, and people are being told to anticipate longer waiting times.

A tweet from Manchester Airport's official account on Tuesday said: "Passengers travelling back into Manchester Airport on Wednesday 15 March may experience longer immigration queues than normal due to strike action being taken by UK Border Force officers at all UK airport.

"At Manchester Airport we do not anticipate any cancellations and passengers do not need to change their travel plans unless otherwise advised by their airline. For more information visit www.gov.uk".

Passengers who are eligible to use eGates may experience shorter wait times. The Home Office said the industrial action may also lead to additional disruption to services and queues at French ports.
