Manager reveals 'honest' talks about Nottingham Forest January transfer

Palmeiras boss Abel Ferreira has praised the "correct and honest" way Gustavo Scarpa has gone about his move to Nottingham Forest.

Scarpa, 28, will join Forest when his deal with the Brazilian club expires at the end of the calendar year, meaning he will be the Reds' first arrival in the January transfer window this season.

When asked about Scarpa's mentality ahead of the move, Ferreira was full of praise for his attacking midfielder. Scarpa has been in good form on the pitch, while has kept a mature head on his shoulders off it - keeping his commitment to the club he is currently playing for.

"He was very correct and honest with the club. He expressed a dream and a desire, which is legitimate," said Ferreira.

"When you have a serious, honest player who exposes his frankness and says: 'As long as I'm at the club, I'm going to give everything I have and I can '. You saw that at the end of the game it was necessary to cover and he came.

"We looked for Tabata already thinking about Scarpa's departure. When one falls another has to get up (for the challenge)."
