Manager remains tight-lipped on Nottingham Forest transfer link

Nottingham Forest forward Alex Mighten could be set for a loan move away from the club this summer, with a number of clubs keen on the 20-year-old.

Mighten has made two appearances for the Reds this summer, starting in the Carabao Cup win over Grimsby Town and featuring for only seven minutes in the Premier League defeat to Newcastle United.

Sheffield Wednesday, Ipswich Town and Hearts have all been linked with the winger after he found himself falling down the pecking order at the City Ground. Forest have added a host of new faces to Cooper's attack this summer, meaning Mighten could leave on a temporary basis to get regular game time.

After Cooper hinted at a potential short term move away from the East Midlands, it has emerged that Sheffield Wednesday boss Darren Moore is a big admirer of Mighten. According to YorkshireLive , Wednesday are exploring the possibility of signing the forward on a season-long loan.

However, following his side's 5-0 win over Forest Green Rovers, Moore refused to be drawn on discussing any incomings, saying: "I won't speak about player under contract."

Mighten only featured twice under Cooper last season and the Forest boss has admitted a loan could happen before Thursday's deadline. “I’ve gone on record many times to say what I think Alex can be for Forest in the long-term. And everybody’s way of getting there looks different.

“What Alex can’t do - and I’m not speaking out of term, because me and Alex have had this conversation - is have another season like last year. Always, the most important thing for a young player is to play games; to start games, sometimes finish them, play three in a week, experience the build-up, experience the winning, experience the losing, come up against strong opponents.

“Last season, for one reason or another - and some of it was bad luck - he didn’t get to experience that. I don’t think he can go through that again.

“If that means he has to go out on loan and he’s happy to do so, then we’re having a good look at that. But we’ll see where that goes in the next day or two.”
