The man wrongly jailed for the murder of Rachel Nickell and Scotland Yard profiler blamed for his conviction have met for the first time.
Colin Stagg spent 13 months behind bars after being wrongly charged with stabbing to death the 23-year-old mum on Wimbledon Common in July 1992.
Psychologist Paul Britton was believed to have convinced police that Stagg was the prime suspect.
Stagg was acquitted in 1994, and the real killer, Robert Napper, was convicted in 2008.
Stagg met Britton on CBS Reality show, The Murder That Changed Britain and asked why Britton did not see him in jail.
Britton said he “wasn’t allowed”.
He denied telling police Stagg killed Rachel, saying the profile “was put together before you were considered”.
Britton said police refused to consider Napper as a suspect.
Stagg said he no longer blames Britton, calling him “a nice guy”.
