Man with no underlying health issues died from Covid days after 21st birthday

A young man tragically died from Covid only a few days after celebrating his 21st birthday.

Cameron Day contracted coronavirus after completing his graphic design course at the University of Lincoln in June 2021. Shortly after celebrating his his 21st birthday away from his family on July 15, he was put into a medically induced coma on July 24, Nottinghamshire Live reports.

Despite having no underlying health issues, Cameron, from Mansfield, tragically died in Lincoln County Hospital on August 5. The young lad has been described by parents Neil Day and Alison Shaw as "kind, supporting, intelligent and a friend to all".

They added: "Cam had the kindest and most generous heart and was always eager to help and support other." Now, after almost a year since his heartbreaking death, a charitable trust is being set up in his memory.

The Cameron Day Charitable Trust supports graphic design students aged between 18 and 24 in the East Midlands. Cameron's parents exclaimed that the charity will allow Cameron's legacy can live on.

He had been able to achieve his dream job as a graphic designer at London-based SODA. Mr Day and Ms Shaw said: "With the help of his family, friends, the University and SODA we are continuing to do what he would do himself.

"We believe that he would be as proud of us for doing this, as we will forever be of him."
