A man armed with "a machete" prompted a huge armed police response in Liverpool.
Merseyside Police and the North West Ambulance Service rushed to Talton Road, just off Lawrence Road in Wavertree, at around 4.20pm on Thursday, June 2. Officers received a 999 call from somebody on the street reporting a man was seen with an "edged weapon" in the street and was making threats.
One eyewitness who lives on the road said they saw a "man with a machete". Moments later dozens of police vehicles including patrol cars, matrix vans, police dog vehicles and armed police arrived at the scene.

A cordon was put in place for the whole length of Talton Road. Officers immediately started making door-to-door enquiries to find out what happened and tried to trace the man.
Dozens gathered on Lawrence Road to try and see what was happening. Around two hours later the police cordon was dropped, with officers still remaining at the scene.
A spokesperson from Merseyside Police said there was "no wider concern to the public" following the incident. Enquiries are ongoing to fine the man and no arrests were made.
No injuries were reported to Merseyside Police.
