A painter and decorator admitted to police he smokes cannabis "every day" after officers attended a street in Gedling. They received a report that drugs were in Christopher Glover's car.
When officers spoke to Glover, 32, of Turpin Avenue, Gedling, they found cannabis in a car, and he informed then he smoked that "every day". A breath test showed he was over the drink drive limit, with a reading of 57 micrograms of alcohol in 100 millilitres of breath, over the legal limit of 35.
Glover, who claims Universal Credit and was said to be sorry about what happened, was not penalised for the cannabis offence, but was banned from driving for 12 months for drink-driving in Turpin Avenue, fined £80, ordered to pay a victim surcharge of £32 and costs of £85. As he was sentenced before magistrates in Nottingham on Tuesday (January 17), he was represented by Susan Gregson-Murray, who said Glover had admitted the offences "straight away".

He went to visit his brother on December 11 and they had a "few drinks inside the house" and got into the car to have a discussion and listen to music. "He accepts he smoked cannabis," explained Miss Gregson-Murray to magistrates.
"He lost a three-year-old boy three years ago through ill-health, and he lost his mother not that long ago. I think cannabis helps with the stress and so forth.
"He works as a self-employed painter and decorator, so he won't be able to do that work particularly wel. He hopes a friend will be able to drive him".
